Slimline is the "new" line...

I really like the slimline design!  There are so many things that I can do with the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches. I started with soft gray cardstock and then cute some DSP for the featured layer.  The leaf die was cut in peach and gray.  I know that the slim design will figure prominently in future card-making. 

 

A Freshly Made Challenge of Details

I have drawers of sentiments...great ones, too.  But I am sorely lacking in single-line horizontal ones.  In fact, I would like to see more of those and more single-line vertical sentiments for stampers. But that is for another day.  Today, it is Freshly Made Sketch 445 that had my attention. The die cut is an alcohol ink piece that has been lying around for months; in fact, I trimmed it down some to fit.

I can't identify the patterned paper I used on this card for Freshly Made Sketches.  It's from a 6x6 paper pad, but the cover is gone.  The "happy" die is from Mama Elephant. I discovered that I have only one set of square dies. 

Black and White for Colours & Sketches

Frequently, I am just attracted to black and white.  I certainly could have added a color here, but it wasn't the plan for the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge.  

Tired of Covid 19

Every day for 50 days, I made a card with some kind of sentiment appropriate for the "lockdown."  Finally, I essentially ran out of ideas, so I'm trying card challenges again.  My first non-Covid card is for Case This Sketch 371.  

During this lockdown, I've been buying pads of patterned papers....several pads of paper.  The front layer of this card is a sheet from Adalelne Craft Papers (PolkaDoodles) purchased from Simon Says. 

The DaVinci die is a new one from Simon Says (Memory Box). "Joy" is an old SU! stamp.

Freshly Made Sketch -- First Christmas Card

Freshly Made Sketch 409 provided the template for my first Christmas card.  The die cut poinsettia was colored with watercolor pens, layered with white and popped on a foam dot.  I decided on an otherwise all-white background for the red poinsettia and the black sentiment.  Both white pieces were dry embossed to provide some interest. 

Color Throwdown

For this Color Throwdown challenge, I chose the digi image from Power Poppy and colored it with watercolor markers.  I finished by painting Glossy Accents over the colored image and then cut it out with the Distressed Edge rectangular die. My little go-to enamel adhesive dots accent the old SU! sentiment.

Tuesday Card

I've posted before about my young friend Chelsea being a wife, mother of 3, nurse, a rancher's wife, and a horsewoman who loves to rope. In her spare time, she writes a bi-monthly column about ranch life in an agricultural newspaper.  One of her recent columns told of all the hats she wears, and how she loves that roping "hat."  I used one of the three horse stamps that I own for today's card. It's from Technique Junkies.  I stamped it in SU's Going Gray, cut the image with a "wonky" die, applied it to distressed-look designer paper, and applied some of my very favorite matte Sparkles.  

Color Throwdown in Christmas Colors?

I'll admit that when I think of red and green, I think of Christmas.  Those colors are just lodged in my brain that way.  However, there can be green trees and red apples and many other natural red and green object pairs.  My first attempt was way too garish, so I reduced the amount of the red and green and added more white for my Color Throwdown card.  A wonky rectangle and a dry-embossed oval back up the leaves cut from a watercolor wash. A tiny sentiment from SU! and Wink of Stella on the leaves complete the card. 

Mojo Monday

After studying the sketch for Mojo Monday 496  , I chose one pad of paper: "Hanami Garden" from Kaiser Craft.  From there it was quick and quite simple, until I chose to stack the "believe" die cut. The remainder was pleasantly easy. 

CAS MixUp -- Splatters

What a fun challenge this is!

After viewing Loll's videos of splattering techniques, I chose the one that uses a Distress Stain for this CAS Mix Up.  (It required two tries because the stain didn't dry as I expected, and I soon had green fingerprints on the watercolor paper.)  For my card, I splattered, stamped, and added a die cut, which was a flourish that I cut in half so I could accent both top and bottom of the splattered layer.

For this week's Freshly Made Sketch, I used polka dotted paper that is accented with red washi tape and features a cute circle die by DieVersions. 

CAS Colors & Sketches #214

It's a simple sketch for CAS Colors & Sketches.  To keep it CAS but add some interest with texture, I chose to dry-emboss the card front and then cut the circle with the SU! thinlets die Swirly and Scribbles. I have several "hello" dies, so I chose one from Poppy Stamps that seemed to work best with the dotted circle.

Beyond the wintry colors and even Valentine's Day choices, I've decided on a light, "springy" color for Freshly Made Sketch 274.  

Mojo Monday 478 --the New Year

Because I started the new year just a bit late, I'm posting my Mojo Monday card on Thursday.  Blue is my favorite color, but I rarely use it for one of my cards.  For this card, I used paper from a 12x12 Docrafts paper pack in various shades and patterns of blue.  I also was able to use one of my favorite butterfly embellishments, a "Fantasy Butterfly" from Prima Flowers, and the "happy" die from Simon Says Stamp.

Less is More - Adding Dimension

It seems like forever since I've made a card or even visited my crafting blog.  Now I have at least four challenges to meet, and I'll start with Less is More.  The challenge is to add some dimension to a card.  I've used a frame die for a white-on-white card front with an image from Tim Holtz's "Runway" collection for Stampers Anonymous.  The "hello" die cut is also dimensional.

Tuesday Mailing

Pretty pink for a change this winter.  My Tuesday cards are simple: dry-embossing, a plaid ribbon, and a stacked "Friend" die cut.
