CAS Colours Challenge #380

Color challenges aren't always the easiest for me, so it's enjoyable when one of them seems "manageable."  Such was the case with Challenge #380 of CAS Colours and Sketches. 

Black and White for Colours & Sketches

Frequently, I am just attracted to black and white.  I certainly could have added a color here, but it wasn't the plan for the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge.  

Metallic Hearts after V-Day

I seriously considered NOT using hearts, but I found myself just wanting to make the card and the heart dies were out because of Valentine's Day.  So, I made hearts for Challenge #357 of CAS Colours & Sketches.  The hearts were cut from Tim Holtz's new "metallic confections" cardstock and dry-embossed. The background layers are pieces of patterned paper from the 6x6 pad "Watercolors" of Craft Consortium.  If I had a "happy anniversary" stamp, it would work perfectly, too!

Angles for CAS Colors & Sketches

The DT cards were really an inspiration for this particular sketch (CAS Colours & Sketches); I'm keeping several in mind to CASE later!  For my own card, I started with a multicolored piece of DSP from Lawn Fawn's "Really Rainbow" petite paper pack.  Then I chose the solid orange for the angled piece.  The image of poppies is a Penny Black stamp and the sentiment is from Wordsworth. 

Cas Colours and Sketches -- with Angles

For once, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with a sketch, and I finished it within 30 minutes. That might be first for me!  When I saw the sketch for Challenge 305 of CAS Colours and Sketches, I immediately thought of some DP that I recently used for another card. 

The paper is from "Say Cheese III" by Simple Stories.  They are double-sided papers, but the other sides have really large graphics that I can't see myself using.  These fronts, though...are delightful. I love the choices of colors as well as the designs.  In fact, the first card I made with these particular patterns is posted below.  

A Sketch in Black and Gold

I'm cutting it close today, but I've completed a handful of challenges this weekend, just in time for our week-long stay away from home.  For this CAS Colors & Sketches challenge, I chose to feature gold and black.  "Breezy Waves" is a Memory Box die, which I've used for the curved feature.  I also wanted to use the bleach technique, so I tested some black cardstock and found that it bleached to a pretty gold.  The image is "Poppy Poem" from Penny Black, which I stamped and embossed in white before bleaching with an aqua pen, and then layered with the gold cardstock I used for the curves. (There wasn't really any room for a sentiment after all that...I wish there were more vertical sentiment stamps!)

Colors and Sketches

I have none of these SU! colors...in ink or cardstock, but I think I got close.  For the current Colors and Sketches challenge, I chose the red for the card.  It turned out fairly bold!  

CAS Colours & Sketches #265

This is a relatively simple sketch of  CAS Colours & Sketches, but there is a great variety of interpretations in the sample cards. I thought I would like to try something a little "different," so chose a piece of alcohol inked background that was lying around.  The pattern of the inks is really busy and not the best for a feature on a card.  As a background, however, it provided a great choice of colors for the card.  A sentiment by Impression Obsession and a die cut from Memory Box completed the top layer. 

CAS Colors & Sketches #214

It's a simple sketch for CAS Colors & Sketches.  To keep it CAS but add some interest with texture, I chose to dry-emboss the card front and then cut the circle with the SU! thinlets die Swirly and Scribbles. I have several "hello" dies, so I chose one from Poppy Stamps that seemed to work best with the dotted circle.
