For some reason, it's difficult to get going again on non-Christmas cards. I love those seasonal designs, but it's time for me to move on. Choosing an image for this Sunday Stamps sketch made me think for awhile. The Stampers Anonymous sleek and stylish woman was my choice, and then black and white seemed obvious.

Freshly Made Winter Card
I still have some winter cards to send after having sent all the Christmas cards. This sketch of Freshly Made Sketches worked well with the little penguin in the corresponding black and white theme. It's a perfect post-Christmas-card and pre-Christmas Day. 😀

CASe a Sentiment Sketch

I used to think I would never use dies...now I love using them, and wish large ones were more available. For this Cas(e) this Sketch challenge, I used a piece of designer black and white paper and three layers of the Happy diecut and a tiny decorative brad.

Double D Silhouettes
I think the logical approach to this Double D Challenge might be a great die cut, but I remembered that I do have a few stamps that are silhouette in nature. This particular one is from Carol's Collection by Stampotique.

Freshly Made Sketch 403
This was a Freshly Made sketch that I had to create twice before I was satisfied with the result. Each time, however, I used a new leafy die from Pink Fresh; the second time I cut it from heavily patterned paper, which resulted in a "sketchy" look. Each of the strips in the design was cut from paper in an old Authentique paper pad, "Everlasting." The sentiment is from Technique Junkies.

Freshly Made in Black and White

I like making black and white cards, and I chose that color combo for the Freshly Made Sketch 388 after deciding on the panel for the center. It's from a piece of specialty cardstock from Ellen Hutson. The large "Smile" from Couture Creations serves perfectly for the horizontal focal piece.

Only Black and White
Although my blog title is "Beyond Just Black and White," the current Double D Challenge calls for "only black and white."
My card features a moth instead of a butterfly, a large Stampotique image. The sentiment is from Gina K Designs. It doesn't show up in the photo, but the moth is also covered in clear Wink of Stella for a slight glistening effect.

Freshly Made...Simply Made
It's fun to find a piece of DSP in a pile on my table and then decide it would work with the latest Freshly Made Sketches. I cut the DSP with a daisy die from Verve and popped the trio on foam dots, chose a black and white striped piece of paper for the rectangle and added a sentiment from a new Hero Arts clear set.

The Month of Hearts -- Double D

I've been making cards with the traditional red, pink, and white, so it was enjoyable to think out of the box with this hearts challenge! Double D Challenges provided the above mood board, and I chose black and white. The designer paper is from Bo Bunny pad; the wonky border die is from Kat Scrappiness. Hearts are a Sizzix die, and I layered two ribbons at the bottom with a tiny red heart accent.

Black and White for Freshly Made Sketches

I'm rushing to meet the deadline; for some reason, I had missed this Freshly Made Sketches post. When I saw this sketch, I immediately thought of washi tape. I have a drawer full of the tapes in a variety of patterns and colors. In fact, I have almost as much washi tape as I have embossing folders, neither of which gets much use. Three rolls of tape were in black and white patterns, so I chose this one. The rest was easy. The sentiment is an old one from Verses Rubber Stamps.

Double D Challenge: Stripes and Dots

Our theme today is:
STRIPES & DOTS
Here's our mood board personally designed to help inspire you ...

For this week's Double D Challenge, I've created a card in black and white stripes and polka dots. The die is from Memory Box, and the Tom Brokaw quote is an Impression Obsession stamp.

Less is More with Black and White Llamas

Although I've really changed my habits about buying new stamps, I was simply attracted to this happy one from Technique Junkies, called "Cool Llamas." It works beautifully with the Less is More challenge of "black and white plus one color." The background paper is from Ellen Hutson: Modern Graphics by Julie Ebersole.

Sunday Stamps

My first card in more than a month...but I have a good excuse. We went to New York to visit our oldest son and experienced a surprise wedding on the third day! Even our younger son, his wife and baby were there from here in Oregon. It was an amazing surprise and wonderful stay in Brooklyn, with forays into Manhattan, to Long Island (all the way to Montauk) and to Coney Island. Back to stamping:
In New York, black is THE clothing color. I felt right at home, because I love wearing black. It seems only fitting that my first card post-New York is a black and white one for the Sunday Stamps sketch. I added a bit of color on the flowers, but decided that I preferred dark flowers.

Freshly Made Sketches

Black and white comprise my favorite color duo, which I chose for Freshly Made Sketches #319. This piece of designer paper from Ellen Hutson was left over from a previous card creation. Add a skinny sentiment and diecuts from Poppy Stamps spritzed with Glimmer Mist Dazzling Diamonds, and that's it!

Freshly Made with Black, White and Red

I'm always drawn to black and white with red, and this Freshly Made Sketch 271 worked well. The sentiment is from Stampers Anonymous.

Freshly Made with Black and White Ribbons

It's hard to beat black and white ... for anything! For the current Freshly Made Sketch, I was inspired by Jennifer Timko's navy and white creation. (I've had the sentiment stamp for quite awhile, but this is the first use of it.----Lizzie Anne...gourmetrubberstamps.com)

Less is More with Numbers
"Numbers" are appearing on this week's cards at Less is More. For me, it was a perfect opportunity to use one of my MANY embossing folders. I also deliberately stayed away from fall and Christmas colors with a simple black and white theme, including tiny paper butterflies.
