Mojo Monday

It's difficult for me to get back into cardmaking when I've been away from it; there are too many things that are on my mind, and the kitchen table piled with cardstock, inks, stamps, and tools is just one of them.  However, it's Tuesday after Mojo Monday, and the sketch was especially appealing.

Prima's Almanac Collection in a 6x6 pad was my choice of papers. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado.

After studying the sketch for Mojo Monday 496  , I chose one pad of paper: "Hanami Garden" from Kaiser Craft.  From there it was quick and quite simple, until I chose to stack the "believe" die cut. The remainder was pleasantly easy. 

Mojo Monday 495 Contest

It's the first Monday of May and that means "Mojo Monday" Contest. For my card, I chose La Creme matstack from DCWV, a paper pack filled with elegant cream, yellow and black choices. Some of the papers are flocked, as well.  

The sentiment is from a little company called Heart and Soul, and the flower was created with a punch and 3 layers of cardstock attached with a decorative brad.  

Mojo Monday and Sunday Stamps

For the first time in a very long time, I've combined two card challenges: Mojo Monday's sketch and Sunday Stamps' color combo.

I've been gone for more than a week...and this is the reason!  We are grandparents for the first time. Our youngest son and his wife became parents of Ava Maeve on April 10.

On to Mojo Monday!

For this week's Mojo Monday card, I stamped two of Penny Black's Dahlias images on watercolor paper, heat embossed and watercolored with markers. Then I fussy-cut the flowers.  I used the same technique with the Smile diecut.  Two layers of designer paper make up the card front, with the smaller piece dry-embossed in a folder.

When I started this card for April's first Mojo Monday , I started with a flower.  As things progressed, I decided against using that flower because it just didn't go with the shade of pink on the designer paper.  The paper is from the Almanac Collection by Prima. "Believe" is from Poppy Stamps.

Continuing to catch up with my card challenges this week:  Mojo Monday #490.

It was that beautiful black and cream plaid ribbon that inspired this card:  the ribbon was a freebie included in my Verve order!  (I've used it on two cards now.)  From there, I went to Graphic 45's Artisan Style paper pad for the designer piece to front the black dry-embossed layer. Finally, I chose another of my favorite sentiment stamps from Wordsworth.

For this week's Mojo Monday sketch, I started with a piece of Asian-inspired paper from the Kaiser Craft "Hanami Garden" pad again. Pink, black, red, and gold were the colors of paper I chose for the card elements.  A gold-tipped Prima flower and a new die word from Verve Stamps completed the sketch.

I really like this Mojo Monday sketch; it could be used in so many different situations.  I chose a piece of polka-dot paper from my stash and a great sentiment from Paper Artsy with tiny flowers from Prima.  The ink is SU's "Cajun Craze," which also provided the ink spots.

There's something about a monochromatic card...and one done in soft blues---I loved putting this one together.  This particular Mojo Monday sketch allowed the use of several blue patterns from various paper pads.

Mojo Monday 483 is a perfect sketch for a new Valentine's Day card.  "Imagine" is a Memory Box die.  One sheet of designer paper with two embossing folders provide the variations.  The heart dies are Die-Namics by mftstamps.

Hearts and pink go well together for this Mojo Monday sketch...with a little distressing and Rock Candy Distress Stickles on the layered heart.

Again, I discovered that my largest circle die isn't that large at all.  But I once believed that I would never use dies in my card-making---and that turned out just the opposite!  In my Mojo Monday card, I decided on a star instead of a square, which is a big deal for me. I tend to follow sketches pretty closely because I don't consider myself very creative.

For this week's Mojo Monday 480 card, it was fun to work with Authentique's "Journey" monochromatic papers while putting this card together.  Die is from PoppyStamps and sentiment from Power Poppy.

I dug out a 12x12 paper pad from Tim Holtz for this Mojo Monday card.  Pink seemed like a good choice to go against the winter that surrounds me.  The "smile" die is the prettiest one I have. It's labeled "intricutz dies" by Couture Creations.  

Mojo Monday 478 --the New Year

Because I started the new year just a bit late, I'm posting my Mojo Monday card on Thursday.  Blue is my favorite color, but I rarely use it for one of my cards.  For this card, I used paper from a 12x12 Docrafts paper pack in various shades and patterns of blue.  I also was able to use one of my favorite butterfly embellishments, a "Fantasy Butterfly" from Prima Flowers, and the "happy" die from Simon Says Stamp.

Back to the real world... Mojo Monday

Amazing how a week away from home for Thanksgiving makes it difficult to get into the swing of things again!  I have three card challenges ahead of me, and Mojo Monday is the first --- here on Wednesday!

I went to the obvious Christmas theme (I actually have my 45 cards made already) and chose Penny Black for the die and the sentiment.  Embossing folders provide the texture on the background layers. 

Mojo Monday -- Red and Silver

I love red and silver, but I guess I love many different color combinations. For this week's Mojo Monday sketch, once again, I chose specialty paper from Echo Park's Dots and Stripes, this one from the Winter Silver Dots pack. The paper is two-sided, with the solid color (dry embossed in a folder) on the reverse of the dots.  A heavy piece of Bazzill metallic silver cardstock was perfect for the PoppyStamps "merry" diecut and banner.  The card base is Slate Gray from SU!.  (I love the silver "thread" from Stampin' Up!)
