Color Throwdown for a Special Birthday

When this popped up in my e-mail, I was immediately in love with the colors!  And I just happened to need to make a birthday card for my youngest sister today.   I started with the colors, of course.  Although I was in love with stripes, my black and white paper pads don't include stripes.  Polka dots, yes!  Choosing a sentiment was next; I don't have many beyond the "Happy Birthday" ones.  The Emerson quote on a Wordsworth stamp seemed fitting.  To make the card decidedly feminine, I added the butterfly for the Color Throwdown challenge.

Spots on Stripes for the Flower Challenge

I've always liked paper with polka dots; it's not as if I use it frequently, but it works with The Flower Challenge for November.  This large flower is an old cling stamp from Hero Arts, another image that I've used often.  This time I stamped it on the polka-dotted paper and embossed it in white.  Then I die cut "hello" with a die from Poppy Stamps and placed both on a layer dry-embossed with a Tim Holtz folder.

Tuesday Card

Obviously, I've been slacking in the card-making ... my last post was a week ago, for a Tuesday card.  Today, I had the card made ahead of time and still missed getting it in the mail.  (As I've explained before, our mail is picked up at the post office around noon and is trucked all the way across the state for sorting, and then is trucked back ... in the case of this card, to an address that's just 30 miles from me.)    But I digress:  I love the color of this cardstock and I love tiny polka dots.  It's a piece of cardstock I purchased at a JoAnn's store a few months ago.   Instead of Thursday, Chelsea will receive her card on Friday this week.

Mojo Monday and Sunday Stamps

For the first time in a very long time, I've combined two card challenges: Mojo Monday's sketch and Sunday Stamps' color combo.

Mojo Monday

I really like this Mojo Monday sketch; it could be used in so many different situations.  I chose a piece of polka-dot paper from my stash and a great sentiment from Paper Artsy with tiny flowers from Prima.  The ink is SU's "Cajun Craze," which also provided the ink spots.

Freshly Made with Silver

The Freshly Made Sketch for this week is a simple one with many options.  I'm in love with my dotted cardstock from Echo Park, and the silver dots called for silver ribbon and diecut, as well.

Less is More with Polka Dots

Polka dots are featured in this week's Less is More challenge.  I CASEd a cute card found on Pinterest originally created for the I'm In Haven blog.  The card features the Memory Box die, "Tilth Floral" (or "tith floral" if you go by the front of the package).
