Sweet Sunday Sketch

I don't know why I can't seem to accomplish anything anymore, but I was determined to create a card for Sweet Sunday Sketch #298.  I'm still avoiding Christmas cards, for some reason, so I pulled out a stash of paper hidden in a drawer (I'm in the beginning stages of a massive purge of my stamping supplies.) to make this card.  Washi tape is something else I seem to have too much of, but almost all of it is in neutral colors.  It works fine on this card.  The flowers are from a Sizzlits die and "hello" is a Memory Box die. 

Sweet Sunday Sketch becomes Tuesday Mailing

This great Sweet Sunday sketch became the sketch for my Tuesday cards this week...although they didn't get mailed until Thursday, for a couple of reasons.  I ended up with polka-dotted leaves on a rich garnet background created with an autumn embossing folder, and finished with the "grateful" die from Penny Black.

For this particular Sweet Sunday sketch, I opted for designer paper from a Kaiser Craft pad called "Ma Cherie."  "Blessed" was cut with a Penny Black die from the "Words of Gratitude" set.

It's another Sweet Sunday Sketch with some great shapes.

 

The designer paper is from a beautiful 6x6 Prima pad called "Bella Rouge."  The decorative circle is cut with a die from Spellbinders and "believe" is a die from PoppyStamps. 

Sweet Sunday Sketch with a Purpose

Generally, I don't have a purpose in mind other than completing a challenge when I make a card for Sweet Sunday Sketch or any other challenge.  This week is different, however.  Our youngest son and his wife celebrate their second wedding anniversary and I needed a card!  Everything came together with the digi sunflower from Power Poppy.  Yellow and gray were the theme colors of the wedding two years ago; I made around 200 thank-you cards in these colors.  This sunflower image worked perfectly.   

Sweet Sunday Sketch #281

I love this black and gold specialty paper from Club Scrap; it's dramatic of itself, but combined with black and gold cardstock, it's even more dramatic, in my opinion.   When I was deciding what to do for Sweet Sunday's sketch 281, I opened a drawer I haven't looked in for awhile....and there were these papers!  The sentiment is an old stamp, one of my favorites from Wordsworth.

This Sweet Sunday Sketch works well in a sweet monochromatic pink, and it was a  perfect sketch for my Tuesday mailing (although a day late).

I was able to use my brand-new die from Memory Box, the "Tilth Floral." A double die cut made the perfect center for the circle in this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch. The designer paper is from the 6x6 pad of Graphic 45's French Country patterns and solids.

The designer papers are from Authentique's  "Collection: Peaceful" and Prima's "Rondelle."  The beautiful "dream" die is from Penny Black.

It feels as if it's been forever since I've made a card to post!  When some of the hub-bub and chaos settled in our lives, I went to the current sketches and started looking for supplies that would work.  I have a lot of butterfly embellishments, and I love these glitzy ones that Prima doesn't even carry anymore.  I'm linking up with the current Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge.

This "stacked" sketch design inspired me to go to one of my MANY 6x6 paper pads.  In this case, I chose Prima's "Rondelle.  Joining Sweet Sunday Sketch again.

I love the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenges and Sketch 263 is no exception. 

I chose to create my card with Authentique's "Classique: Beauty" paper pad, adding a Petaloo flower and some wide washi tape for accents.

I'm discovering...and admitting...that I simply cannot maintain a photography blog and a crafting blog, at least with any quality.  There simply isn't enough time in the day (or night) to do all that I really want to do in these areas---as well as accomplish all the other things my life requires.  It has been a week since I made a card, and the Sweet Sunday Sketch just might work the best for me. 

I chose  Power Poppy digi image of lilacs for the sketch and colored with SU markers.  The sentiment is another digi image, from Doodle Pantry.

I really enjoy the Sweet Sunday Sketches; they are ones I can work with.  Card design has always been a challenge for me, so a sketch is the answer.

This sketch was perfect for the wired burlap ribbon in my stash.  I just had to decide between red and "kraft" color--which is actually "burlap" color.   The center card layer was embossed in a Tim Holtz folder, and "grateful" was cut with a Penny Black die.

Choosing a Sweet Sunday Sketch

Celebrating a blog just for the Sweet Sunday Sketches, the latest challenge is "choose your own sketch."  As a recent participant in the SSS challenge, I went back a few weeks to Sketch #250 for my choice. As it turns out, it was the first sketch of the year.   I made the card for a college friend of long ago who fell and broke her knee this week while walking her dog. It makes me hurt to think of that kind of injury.  The tulips and sentiment are digital images from Power Poppy, colored with SU markers.

It was fun to pull out some spring colors for a change, although I'm always a fan of dark and dramatic, too.  The Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge worked out in papers from Teresa Collins' "Sweet Afternoon" collection, accented with three layers of  the Lawn Cut "Smile" and a fabric butterfly from Petaloo.

I'm really behind on this week's card challenges.  Today, I finally finished Sketch 254 of the Sweet Sunday challenge.
