Tag It on Less is More

This is at least the third version of this card!  I've changed the color, the embossing, some gold embellishment...and finally decided I was going to stop.  The tag was the one constant: it's cut from a piece of Brusho colored cardstock.  And I really wanted to use that butterfly.  The card began as a green one with some gold rubbed on the embossing.  Didn't work.  That piece was also cut with a fancy rectangle die.  Now I've settled on this autumn-toned card with dry embossing texture behind the tag for Less is More #382

Trying to Get Back in the Groove

After a 4-day stint of rodeo activities 10 days ago, it was difficult for me to get back into crafting and photography.  Today, I'm posting cards for two challenges to try and get caught up.

The first is Mojo Monday, which I'm finally completing on Wednesday.  This was a real challenge for me; I made and destroyed 3 previous cards before settling on this one.  The great ideas in my mind often don't translate to cardstock.

The second card today is for Freshly Made Sketches.  The feature of this card is a matboard tag covered in washi paper.

Trying "Tag, You're It!"

It's a first attempt, although I did make two tags.  Issues with sizes, shapes, ink sprayers, among other things, made this attempt take longer than planned.  It's fun, though.  Tag You're It!  is a new challenge with some fabulous tag creations. The guest designer and DT have created fabulous tags!

I Need Color

As is often the case, the crafting bug bit me late last night.  I wanted to do something colorful, so alcohol inks are often the answer.  However, I wasted a whole sheet of glossy cardstock trying to get what I thought I wanted. I was also using canned air, and as is often the case, I either used too much ink or tried too many colors.   But I did get some color in the middle of the night!

Graphic 45 Tag

As a now-and-then follower of the Graphic 45 blog, I printed off a recent tutorial for a tag made with "A Ladies' Diary" collection of papers.   (I believe that should be "A Lady's Diary" or "The Ladies' Diaries"  but it's a little late for corrections!)  The tutorial is here.  I made two tags last night, with slight alterations:  I added a set of flowers (cut from one of the papers), painted on some Smooch Glitz, and substituted a little lightbulb for the key on the original.  And I cannot tie a beautiful bow, so that is always subject to change.

Post-Christmas Sparkle and Shine

It's another Blogger Challenge on Lisa Somerville's blog:  Sparkle and Shine.   For my first card since Christmas cards, I've created some sparkle with Heartfelt Creations' "Delicate Asters" collection of paper, stamps, and dies. It's basically a CASE of a card on the blog.  For the "sparkle and shine," I've used a glittery wired ribbon and all kinds of SmoochGlitz on the diecut asters and leaves.  The Wordsworth sentiment is stamped on shimmery paper and accented with three rhinestones.

Make it a Tag for Frilly and Funkie

One more Christmas tag--this time for Frilly and Funkie's "Make It A Tag" challenge.  I made the tag from a downloaded music image and then embossed it in an ornament folder.  The tag was colored with Salty Ocean Distress Ink and Midnight Glimmer Mist. The die cut snowflake got its texture from clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint, and the small snowflakes were punched out of coordinating papers.

Rosette Curiosity

"Paper Rosettes" are the feature of Linda's Compendium of Curiosities II this week. The rosettes are found on page 63 of Tim's book.  I chose the newer mini snowflake rosettes for my tag, which was created with the faux suede technique. The snowflakes were cut from old music sheets.  The Christmas "postage" is from Lisa Vollrath's "Go Make Something" challenge of a few years ago, and the lace edging is from Funkie Junkie Boutique and a remnant from a previous tag creation.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas #12

I actually made it!  12 weeks of Christmas tags inspired by Funkie Junkie's Linda Coughlin!  What inspires me about Linda's twelfth tag is the color combination of red and gold.  I also chose a red "flower" (poinsettia) and the white ornament.  I began with dark red cardstock for my tag and gold-embossed it with one of Tim's flourishes.  Using Tim's Tattered Poinsettia die, I cut the flower from beautiful red and gold specialty paper and the green leaves (embossed in a Sizzix folder)  from the same die. Everything was misted with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist.  The ornament is a Memory Box die and "Hallelujah" is an old stamp from my Christmas collection.  The ruffled ribbon is from Funkie Junkie Boutique.   Thanks for the inspiration, Linda.

That beautiful Graphic 45 paper...

"Curtain Call" is one of the new paper lines from Graphic 45.  It's a mix of Paris and the Moulin Rouge, jazz musicians....images of the origins of jazz.  The colors are black, cream, and tan--classy!  (Iridescent gold Glimmer Mist complicated the photography just a little.)

Actually, I made this Paris-themed tag for a challenge, but I missed the deadline.   I'm looking forward to using more of this beautiful line of paper on some special projects.

Tag it On

"Emboss It" is the challenge at Tag it On this week. The embossing, whether with Cuttlebug or something else, should be the feature.   This  new CB folder  is one of the 5x7 ones, perfect for embossing a #8 tag.  A variety of Distress Inks provides the color.

A Face on a Tag

Dragon's Dream sponsors "Tag it On" as a challenge, and this week it's all about "The Face."  I created my tag with alcohol inks on glossy cardstock and then stamped "Elsie" from Impression Obsession and the fern from Hero Arts.  Some gold ink finished it off.
(After I posted this, I realized that the challenge was for last week, but I think I got in under the wire!)

Butterflies

It's only 40+ degrees here, and I think the butterflies have gone, but Louise has challenged us to create a tag with butterflies for Tag Tuesday.   Since it's a two-week challenge because of Labor Day here in the US, I'll most likely make one next week, too.

The tag was cut out of Glitz's "Audrey Distressed" paper, stamped with an old script BG stamp, a butterfly image, and 'Mariposa' from another butterfly collage stamp.  Edges were inked with Vintage Photo.  The wired applique' butterfly came from my stash.

A Tag, but NOT ON PAPER

Louise has another great challenge idea for Tag Tuesday:  Not on Paper.  Mine turned out to be rather 'circusy,' I think....lots of bright colors and images.    The tag is made of aluminum from a drink can (be careful, or wear gloves!) which I then embossed in one of Tim's new folders.  I then glued it to a tag to stabilize the whole thing.  Various colors of alcohol inks were applied to the embossed surface, and then I added the image and those 'sugared' flowers.   It's NOT ON PAPER!

It's a Mannequin Tag....on Tag Tuesday

Louise invited Sarah of Vintage Figments to host Tag Tuesday this week.  Our challenge is to create a tag from a mannequin template.  How enjoyable!  There are so many possibilities.   I used a piece of cream and black  flocked patterned paper from DCWV's "La Creme" stack and went from there.  (The gold wings were just a whim!)

It's Theme Thursday...with Vintage Tag(s)

I was pleased to see the 'vintage tag' challenge on Theme Thursday, but I couldn't stop with just one tag!  One is a little more feminine than the other, although both feature little girls from Digital Collage Sheets.

FACES for Tag Tuesday

I love face images, and I have a whole collection of them. But choosing for Tag Tuesday's challenge this week wasn't easy.   There are so many ways to go, but I had to make a choice or I would never get a tag finished!  

Listen To Your Heart

"Hearts"  is the theme for Louise's Tag Tuesday challenge this week, and she has created the most beautiful tag!  Having just played with the "Distress Powders" technique in Tim's new book, Compendium of Curiosities, I've been inspired to play some more with the Distress powders in my stash.  I also have Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 set "Love to Make Art," which hadn't been inked until today.  Limited by my three colors of Distress EP's, I used Cranberry and Weathered Wood for the tag, duplicating the heart and stacking it on the stamped one underneath. (It was only when I was putting my supplies away 2 hours later that I realized I also used some Bundled Sage DI to ink over the images!)

Thinking Inking Retake Part 1

The Two Peas in a Bucket people are revisiting the great set of videos by Jennifer McGuire last year, dealing with Distress Inks.  I've decided just to follow along and make the tags.    The first three techniques included Water Splotching, Water Stamping, and Layered Masking.   Water stamping is the most difficult for me, but I finally found a stamp (Victorian Star) that worked.  I added buttons as embellishments.    It's always fun to work with those magical Distress Inks!
