Freshly Made with Asian Inspiration

Several years ago, I often created cards that were Asian-inspired. I still have a drawerful of Asian stamps.  Once I decided to use Fuji Woman, I also chose a piece of black and metallic gold washi paper from an old stash.  That determined the black and gold theme, including gold heat embossing.  The Asian symbol is an old Stampin' Up image.  All worked together for this week's Freshly Made Sketches. 

Three's the Magic Number

e.g. take 3 words or 3 images or 3 colours, or 3 patterns (something where you have 3 of an item) 

Three of something... and I was able to use an old Stamp Magik image for the Less is More challenge this week.  ( I have a drawer full of Asian images, and I need to use them more often.)   This is a simple card:  heat embossed image of the three geishas accented with a strip of Washi paper.

Trying to Get Back in the Groove

After a 4-day stint of rodeo activities 10 days ago, it was difficult for me to get back into crafting and photography.  Today, I'm posting cards for two challenges to try and get caught up.

The first is Mojo Monday, which I'm finally completing on Wednesday.  This was a real challenge for me; I made and destroyed 3 previous cards before settling on this one.  The great ideas in my mind often don't translate to cardstock.

The second card today is for Freshly Made Sketches.  The feature of this card is a matboard tag covered in washi paper.  

Tuesday Cards

Every so often, I think of a card and execute the plan quickly...that was the case with this week's Tuesday cards.  I was tensely watching Jordan Spieth have a meltdown in the final holes of the Masters golf tournament, and I just didn't want to see anymore.  I had already "found" the beautiful washi paper last week, which is where I wanted to start.  Choosing an Asian-themed stamp seemed logical, too, and because I wanted the washi layer to show, I chose "Fuji Goddess" by Lynne Perrella for Stampington, one of several of Perella's images in my collection.  The Penny Black sentiment is new to my collection.

Mojo Monday

It's Mojo Monday time again...even though it's now Wednesday!   I decided to make a navy and red Asian-inspired card this time.  I have a few sheets of pretty washi paper from days when I made more cards with Asian themes.  The only stamping is a very old Petite Prints image of Happiness.
