Freshly Made with Asian Inspiration

Several years ago, I often created cards that were Asian-inspired. I still have a drawerful of Asian stamps.  Once I decided to use Fuji Woman, I also chose a piece of black and metallic gold washi paper from an old stash.  That determined the black and gold theme, including gold heat embossing.  The Asian symbol is an old Stampin' Up image.  All worked together for this week's Freshly Made Sketches. 

A Bit More Asian

As explained in the previous post, my first photo of this particular card was poor, so I photographed it again today for this post.

It's the Fuji Goddess, a Lynne Perrella design by Stampington.  Embossed in detail gold on black cardstock and placed on a piece of Asian paper from KaiserCraft's "Hanami Garden" paper pad.

A bit of Asian

Several years ago, I belonged to a group that made Asian-themed cards; I have many Asian images, some relatively traditional and some with a modern "edge." I love them all, but haven't made a card with them in such a long time.  Recently, I bought a Kaiser Craft paper pad called "Hanami Garden."  It has beautiful Asian-themed papers, so I decided to pull out some of my stamps.  My favorites tend to be the Stampington line by Lynne Perrella.  One is "Fuji Goddess" which I used for two cards. HOWEVER, the second card is all black and gold and it did NOT photograph well; I'll photograph again in tomorrow's daylight. The image was colored with Inktense pencils and finished with a brush and water.

Asian Theme

As I've often admitted before, I'm addicted to papers--primarily designer/patterned papers.  I buy the 6x6 or 8x8 pads when I can, and I have a deep dresser drawer filled to the brim.  There are more in a box on the floor.  That doesn't stop me from loving new releases, though.   With the 8x8 Graphic 45 Bird Song pad, I made the following cards.   It had been awhile since I'd used some of my Asian-themed stamps, too.   All of the cards feature paper from the pad. Stamped images are from About Art Accents (Keiko)  and Stampington's Imperial Cargo line (the two larger images at the right), and Inkadinkado (the ginkgo leaves).   Two backgrounds for the stamping were created with alcohol inks and canned air; the geishas were colored with watercolor markers.

Color Throwdown: Black, Teal, Soft Teal, Tangerine

The color combination on Color Throwdown this week is fabulous!  Instead of cardstock, I've chosen alcohol inks to create the colors.  The image is from Stampington.
