That New Slimline Card

I imagine long, slim cards have been created before, but they are attracting interest right now.

This Freshly Made Sketches challenge took me in a couple of directions.  The designer samples are all wonderful, and I checked out Pinterest as well.  That's when I was distracted by Kristina Werner's Distress Oxide blending. I decided I needed to try one for myself and use it for a Slimline card. The first attempt was a failure, so I took a break and then tried again. 

My favorite Stampotique floral image and an old Wordsworth stamp were all I needed to complete the card.

One Layer Dots

A metal stencil and Distress Oxide inks created the "dotty" one layer card for #420 Less is More.  The sentiment is from Dyan Reavely.  

A Rainbow for Color Throwdown

Sometimes, I just can't complete a Color Throwdown challenge because I can't figure out how to use the colors.  This one was different!  I went to my Distress Oxide inks and found the colors I used: Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade, and Squeezed Lemonade.  From the beginning, I knew that I wanted to create a "stacked" sentiment.  For Happy, I chose Altenew's die and a coordinating stamp. 

Less is More in Blue

Less Is More provides a CASE card for the current challenge.  It's a beautiful bunch of blue flowers.

For my card, I stamped Penny Black's "Gossamer" on watercolor paper painted with Distress Oxide ink.  "Hugs" is  an Impression Obsession die. 

Wintry Love for a Tuesday Card

Since winter has returned...actually, it's behaving like winter for only the second time this season...I decided it was a good time to post this "cold weather" card.  The faceless image with a winter scarf and mittens is  "Hello Love"  from Unity; "joy" is an old Stampin' Up sentiment.  The background was created with Distress Oxide inks.  I chose this for my Tuesday card.  Chelsea and her family are in the middle of calving season--150 cows.  Last weekend, we had heavy snow and wind for two days, and today it was below zero.  (By the way, we actually got together for coffee last week! We spent 90 minutes talking and enjoying each other's company.)

Layering Stencils

Although the layering doesn't show up as I planned, I used two stencils to create the background for  October's CAS Mix Up card image:  one of Tim Holtz's stencils and another with dots, both colored with Distress Oxide inks (orange marmalade and wild honey).  The die is from Memory Box and the tiny stamped sentiment from Stampin' Up.
