Freshly Made Sketches #384 -- Carte Postale

A postcard (in French) on a card...my choice for the Freshly Made Sketch this week.  I flipped the kraft card from vertical to horizontal to use the Stampendous Carte Postale image, accenting it with a green layer and "carte postale" washi tape.  

Less is More -- Water

Water in any of its forms eg ice, snow, mist, liquid

I had stamps of water drops...that is all the "water" images in my stash.  Then I found the uninked Stampedous image of the koi...in water.  From there, I could create a "water" card for this week's Less is More.  

Freshly Made with a Popped-up Sentiment

I tried something new on this card for Freshly Made Sketches, something I've admired on other cardmakers' creations. The die is from Altenew; the flower image is from Stampendous.  After stamping the flowers, I heat-embossed the images and colored with SU! markers. I die-cut three additional words, two white and a black,  and adhered them to the underside of the colored one. Finally, I used narrow strips of foam tape to pop "happy" even more.  I definitely want to try this technique again, but I'll probably use lighter colors for the stamped images so the die cut is more obvious.

For Freshly Made Sketches 325,this Stampendous flower is one of my oldest stamps and also one of my favorite florals.  The sentiment is from Precious Remembrance. 

Tic Tac Toe with the Flower Challenge

This month, The Flower Challenge provides a tic-tac-toe challenge.  I went a bit beyond my three, I admit: embossing, watercolor, color (blue)...with a sentiment (and white?) thrown in.   It's a Stampendous flower and a Penny Black sentiment, with Sky Blue Peerless watercolors over black embossing.

I was so tempted to use hearts like the sketch for this week's Freshly Made Sketches---I have some pretty dies that would work.  Instead, I chose an oversized Stampendous flower (Fresh Bloom) to heat-emboss and color with watercolor pens and an aqua pen.  The sentiment is one of three "fancy" ones I own.  

Mojo Monday on Thursday, Again

(I created my post and then discovered half a day later that it was still a draft! I have absolutely no idea WHY I ended up with a duplicate post.)  

Because I have so much designer paper in 6x6 pads, I tend to start with them first when  there are several elements on a sketch.  This Mojo Monday 453 sketch is one of those.  For my paper, I chose Prima's "Romance Novel" collection (there are tiny yellow flowers on the background paper).   Once I decided to clip "unforgettable" from one of the papers, I felt I needed an image that evoked "unforgettable."  That image is Portrait Profile from Stampendous, a stamp I've probably used only one other time.

CASEing Pinterest

I love Pinterest for the beautiful cards that I can save by "pinning" them to a "board."  Some man asked me the other day..."Do you ever look at them after you pin them?"   "Yes, I do."  Today, I decided to do something more than look....after all, I pinned because I was interested in making something just like the item I pinned.   So I've decided to CASE some of my pinned tags and cards.  This first one is inspired by Eileen's Crafty Zone-- I have pinned several of her creations, primarily because of the vibrant colors and striking images.  

The first thing that drew me to this tag was that wonderful Stampendous flower, one of my very favorite stamps.  The colors were equally appealing. I liked the textured cardstock Eileen used, so I dry-embossed my tag and flowers.  (The cardstock for the flowers began as white textured cardstock that I colored with Dylusions Postbox Red spray.)

Alcohol Ink Splatters...revised

The technique of dropping alcohol inks on glossy cardstock and then zapping them with canned air began with Tim Holtz, I believe.  I've used a lot of ink and a lot of canned air in the years since his demo.  Now it's a current technique on Technique Junkies, and I decided to modify it some.   I really like a more "watery" look to the ink, but the original Ranger alcohol inks are intense.  So I added blending fluid and then dabbed the whole thing with a paper towel soaked in rubbing alcohol (91%).  (A continuing problem for me is choosing the right stamp for the background; if it slides and smears---there goes a background!)

Sponge and Spritz

Following a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers, I've created this card with "Deco Lady" from Stampendous.  She received some added shimmer from Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist.  Ink colors were SU!'s Rich Razzleberry, Baja Blue, and More Mustard.  The flower is from Prima.

Click Your Steampunk Heels!

I have so many rubber stamps, but that doesn't stop me from buying more.  This great Stampendous image was too fun to pass up.  Gears and buckles and clock faces.....perfect for paper-piecing.  The image was stamped on a background created with Distress Stains; the paper-pieced areas were painted with Glossy Accents.

Getting back to crafting....

I'm on a mission to return to card-making and other crafting that I love but have almost abandoned for my photography.

This card features a Stampendous image that I embossed in black and colored with watercolor markers.  Then I "painted" the blossoms with Crackle Accents.  I put a dab of regular Glossy Accents on the leaves.
