CAS Colors and Sketches #358

I have more than 100 Stampin' Up markers, but of the three colors above, I possess only Pear Pizzazz.  It's amazing how many shades of one color exist in the marker world!   My choice of stamp for the CAS Colors and Sketches #358 was an old Inkadinkado image of sunflowers.  After coloring them, I added Wink of Stella to the flowers for a little shine. (Once again, I'm just slipping across the finish line!)

Sunday Sketching by the Rows

This challenge of Sunday Stamps was a good one for the new "Blush" paper pad from My Mind's Eye.  The papers are a combination of blush, navy, and rose gold foil.  My card is made of a sheet of the foil paper, bordered with the navy. The sentiment, embossed in copper on navy cardstock, is from Inkadinkado and the copper branch is a die from PoppyStamps.

Color Throwdown -- A New Direction

Our generic colors this week are Gray, Purple, Lavender, and Kraft.

This week's Color Throwdown palette really made me think...and work!  Personally, I struggled with the inclusion of kraft, particularly with the other colors.  One watercolor card looked terrible, and I almost decided I couldn't complete this challenge.  However, one of the cards posted on the link inspired me to use geometric shapes behind a feature piece, which took care of the kraft.  The sentiment is an old Inkadinkado stamp.  The die is from Memory Box.

Shattered Glass

CAS Mix Up this month involves layered embossing powders. When I saw the options, I decided immediately to go for the "shattered glass" technique; it's one I did years ago, but haven't played with since.  To be honest, the first project is pretty...but it's definitely not CAS.  So back to the craft mess.  I chose the stamp first because I needed to work with a specific size, one that didn't cover the card front.  The stamp is from Inkadinkado's Tin Can Mail line, and is one of about only five "masculine" images in my collection.  After cracking "the glass," I rubbed some brown ink into the cracks to accentuate them and added two adhesive dots.

Watercolor and Cling Wrap

I see it's been a month since I last posted--holiday activities lasted that long!  The CAS Mix Up is my first step back into cardmaking this new year.  Watercolor and cling wrap make a great background for die cuts and stamping.  The die is from Poppy Stamps; the sentiment from Inkadinkado. Although I have previously used the cling wrap technique with spray inks, I enjoyed watching the video listed on the CAS Mix Up post, and I chose tube watercolors for this card.

Freshly Made Sketch #311

(I missed the deadline, but am posting the card anyway. )

I am going to try to make a Christmas card for every challenge that I enter for the month of November.  I'll certainly have a variety of card designs that way!  For this Freshly Made Sketch
I used some beautiful silver glitter paper for the die cut and used a soft gray dry-embossed cardstock to back the die cut.  ("Scribbles and Splat die -- Sizzix/Tim Holt  and "Peace on Earth" -- Inkadinkado.)

Freshly Made Sketches 360

For this Freshly Made Sketches design, I pulled a piece of designer paper that resembles watercolor from a Prima "Firefly" 6x6 pad. The sentiment is a Dawn Houser design from Inkadinkado. A Cuttlebug embossing folder provides some texture to the card base.

A Second Smoosh

I've already done one card for this CAS Mix Up challenge, but my "choice" was only layering a complementary color of cardstock.  Today, I decided to "smoosh" alcohol inks for another card.  This is a technique I used to do frequently; I have every alcohol ink color Tim Holtz and Ranger designed. Something else I decided to do -- inspired by the dramatic ink colors -- was to use one of my many "face" stamps. Years ago, I made cards that would probably be considered "edgy" and my face stamp collection grew in number. However, they've been languishing in a drawer for a long time.

For the background, I mixed Mermaid, Aqua and Wild Plum with silver mixative and alcohol blending solution on a craft mat and then "smooshed" a piece of Yupo paper.   The stamp is an old Tin Can Mail image from Inkadinkao and the "dream" is a Penny Black die.  (I did discover that inked Yupo doesn't hold up well to a heat gun when trying to dry stamping.)

My card features stamping, smooshing, and a die cut.

Mojo Monday

This Mojo Monday 469 sketch has a lot of fun details! I decided to stick with the pack of paper I've used for two previous cards:  Echo Park's Dots & Stripes in autumn colors. The enamel dots were available with the paper.  The sentiment is from Inkadinkado, one that I've had for a few years but have never used.
