On The Road With Gingersnap Creations

"On the Road" is a current challenge on GC, and I've decided to catch a ride.  Photographing this card was the most difficult part of the process!  Metallic cardstock ("Black Currant" from DCWV)   is pretty but it fools the camera.   The old car is Tim's Bigz die and the sentiment is from Stampers Anonymous.

Twine for Gingersnap Creations

Twine is the feature of the Spicy Supply Challenge on Gingersnap Creations this month.  I thought about doing a Western-themed card, but I'm committed to using as much designer paper in my stash as I can.   These pussy willows are from K & Co.'s "Blossomwood" collection by Tim Coffey.  My card is basically a CASE of Carole on her Carole-Ish blog.  The sentiment is from the Tim Holtz Collection.

(Twine is tricky to tie, particularly with arthritic fingers!)

Teabags on Gingersnap Creations

The teabag is the star on Gingersnap Creations today for the Random Redhead Challenge.    Check out the template and the great teabag versions.

As a Visiting Artist for January, I couldn't decide on just one so made three.

My teabag-embellished cards all have teabags in the pockets.  I embellished the strings of two of the teabags.   The red and black is Graphic 45 "Communique" paper; the black and cream is flocked paper from Die Cuts with a View.

Creating with Coffee Filters on Gingersnap

The Spicy Supply challenge on Gingersnap Creations is to use coffee filters.   My card features a background of a filter dyed with Distress Inks  and Glimmer Mists.   It's a perfect background for Tim's vintage car.

The beverages are hot on Gingersnap....

I have the honor of being a Visiting Artist for Gingersnap Creations this month; "Hot Beverages" is the theme.

The photo doesn't show it well, but the 'coffee' is embossed in bronze, and there are bronze stripes in the paper.

It's Once in a Blue Moon...and a "Ginspiration"

Once in a blue moon, the Gingersnap Creations gals provide a menu of challenges:  this 5th Wednesday, it's "Ginspiration"and I've chosen Stephanie's inspiration for this card.

Snow, Pine and Mahogany

Penny Bennington's theme creation for the color challenge of "Snow, Pine and Mahogany" on Gingersnap Creations is absolutely beautiful, as are all of her creations.   I decided to use some Christmas papers from My Mind's Eye in a non-Christmas card to create my own card.

More Inchies ....with Tim's Paper

(It's another card for Gingersnap Creations' Inchies challenge.)

I really like this card!   I think the main reason I like it is that I LOVE Tim Holtz's Shabby Vintage (or is it Vintage Shabby?)  paper pad!  I've used up all the pink in my first pad and am working on the second.  The blue is so lovely, and the background images are  wonderful.   That said---this card is made with the blue paper:  for the base layer, the stamped 'inchies' and the sentiment.   They work beautifully together, and the Wordsworth sentiment fits the 'postale' images.

Inchies for Gingersnaps

I bought several sheets of Inchies stamps last year, but they are stuck away with other clear stamps I thought I had to have!  This is a card I made with various images that I punched into 'inchies.'  It's for the Inchies challenge on Gingersnap Creations.

I've gone 3D with an altered tin

I've been in an altering mood today, with lots of time to do it. (I'm retired, and my husband golfs every Saturday! lol)   This project is an answer to the 3D Challenge on Gingersnap Creations.   It's a tin from my stash (3x5x1 1/2") ....it once held a wallet or a watch, and it has a logo embossed on the top.   Even though I sanded the logo, I couldn't remove it.   Perfect location for a big embellishment!    I spray-painted with a black paint that leaves a 'hammered' surface.  Around the bottom edge, I applied some of Tim's Tissue
Tape, which was just the right width.  The metal flower was inspired by a tutorial on Lisa Somerville's blog .  I used 3 of the 4 "Tattered Florals" from Tim Holtz's Bigz die, cut from Ten Seconds Studio's Barn Red metal and embossed in one of Tim's folders.  The flowers are held together with a "Delish" fabric brad, a gift from my good friend Denise.

Fun with Markers for Gingersnap Creations

The Spicy Supply Challenge on Gingersnap Creations is to use markers.  My favorite technique with markers is Marker Wash from the Technique Junkies newsletter of November 2007.   There's a lot of 'wash' involved here!  The image is from Hero Arts; the sentiment, from Wordsworth.  The markers are from Stampin' Up.

This card was chosen as a "Ginger Gem" for this particular challenge.

"Shades of Blue"

Blue is undeniably my favorite color; I did go through a purple phase in college, but blue hung on all these years!  It's actually present somewhere in every room of my house. So I was delighted to see Gingersnap Creations' newest challenge:  Shades of Blue.    Tim's new paper pack... Vintage Chic (or Shabby?)....contains the most beautiful patterned papers in blue, and I used one piece for this card.

"Quote" for the Random Redhead Challenge

Gingersnap Creations has a "Random Redhead" Challenge this month, and "Quote" is the theme.

My card features an Inkdinkado quote stamp and an image from Third Coast.  I also stamped the patterned paper with that large Hero Arts doily image.

Chestnut Theme on Gingersnap Creations

"Read" is the Chestnut Theme this month on Gingersnap Creations. My card features a stamp of artist Winslow Homer's "The New Novel."   After coloring the image with watercolor markers, I covered the surface with ultrafine clear microbeads from Pennywise Arts.  I like the 'sugary' effect...click on the smaller image for a close-up.

Kraft is the key for this Gingersnap Challenge

I was pleased to be named a Ginger Gem once again on Gingersnap Creations for an earlier challenge. (Click on that previous "Ginger Gem" to see the details.)    Kraft cardstock is the theme for the latest Color Challenge.  I chose the large image of sweet peas from Flourishes and that Martha Stewart deep-edge punch.

A second Blue Moon Challenge

There are so many great opportunities with "Take on a Tutorial" at Gingersnap Creations' Blue Moon Challenge, so I'm doing a second one! Sharon Briss' tutorial is titled "Overcoming ATC Angst."    I've made many ATCs in the past several years, but I've always resisted the landscape layout.  So I went against my instinct with this one.  I used Glimmer Mists for the background,  script stamping on the background, one-word clear sticker, a pretty image from Digital Collage Images, and that trusting butterfly, also a sticker.

Blue Moon Challenge --- Take on a Tutorial

Those gals at Gingersnap Creations have quite the variety of challenges on their blog, and on the "Blue Moon" 5th Wednesday, it's "Take on a Tutorial" time.   The challenge is to create something based on one of the many tutorials previously posted.   I chose Ali Manning's "Salted Backgrounds," which is one I've always enjoyed doing. I used table salt for this particular piece.   The image is from a sheet of Graphic 45 "Boardwalk" paper and covered with clear ultrafine microbeads.  (Closeup shows effects of salt and the beaded surface.)

Copper, Ginger, Rust on Gingersnap

I think those gals who started Gingersnap Creations are redheads....and they have an annual challenge for "Copper, Ginger, or Rust."   My 4x4 began as a rust-colored piece of cardstock, which I dry-embossed and then painted with copper spray paint.   The beautiful image is from DezinaWorld's "Emerald" sheet.

Romance

Earlier, I made a Gothic Arch using this wonderfully romantic image that I found on a site for online romance novels.  I've manipulated the image in Adobe Elements, but everything else is done with paper, ribbon,  scissors and adhesive.   Today, I made another piece using the image....and decided that I'll post both for Gingersnap Creations' "Romance" challenge.

Gingersnap Creations -- "Numbers"

I'm now on the fourth book of the "Twilight" series, but I'm still working on challenges, in this case, the Gingersnap Creations Random Redhead challenge.     My "numbers" card was created with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and one of my favorite Philosophy tags from Tim Holtz's IdeaOlogy line.  The perfect sentiment is from Penny Black.
