Grungy Monday #18

Tim's "Twelve Tags of Christmas 2009, Day 8" is the model for this week's Grungy Monday. Linda has created a wonderful seamstress tag in cheerful colors.   I had difficulty getting my vellum to "crunch" and curl; my Grungepaper flower is inked with Barn Door and Fired Brick Distress inks, with a little Wild Honey added. Weathered Wood and Peeled Paint were used on the tag.

The Whole Collection

This is my collection of tags based on Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas. There are several I still like very much, and others that I would like to forget. ;-) Jennie on The Artistic Stamper is giving away a wonderful array of blog candy to "taggers" who stuck with Tim to the end and made at least one version of his tags.

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #12

I really am surprised that I stuck with the program of Tim's tags this year. Generally, I pick and choose. This final one was really a big accomplishment for me: I am challenged when it comes to folding or rolling or whatever else it takes to create something that isn't one-dimensional. The photo tutorial is almost a necessity for my very visual mind! I used Glimmer Mists in purple, turquoise and pine green and then zapped the final rose with iridescent gold. I was so proud of myself! It was then I saw the second rose Tim had on his tag. Sorry....one was my limit. I drew and cut the leaves out of grunge paper. This is probably the most 'feminine' of my creations. Wow...I actually made a rose---the very first one I have ever even attempted! I know I can do it again, though......assuming I have Tim's tutorial in front of me!

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #11

I did it! I broke away from the norm and took a more feminine approach to the tag. I wish I had carried it onto the reindeer, but it already has three colors on it. Dusty Concord was too dull/dark, Fired Brick didn't really go with the tag, so I settled on Pine Needles. Maybe Peeled Paint would have been brighter. Since I'm not buying any new supplies for these tags, I chose pearlescent lavender brads for the centers of the flowers.

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #9 and #10

I held off as long as I could on #9, but it made me think. The 'film' is a graphic I found on the internet and printed in grayscale on vellum. All the rest of the adaptations are obvious, I believe.

#10 turned out to be a disappointment, but it's because I have only metal flashing tape, which isn't nearly wide enough for a tag. If I did it over, I would probably apply the tap across the width of the tag rather than the length. As it is, there is a very unattractive vertical line on the tag. No little attacher here, but x's drawn with a gel pen. (Oh, I also burnished a little too hard!)

So I'm caught up, just about 3 hours before Tim posts #11.

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #8

I'm not a happy camper with this tag. No lamp post, no music stamp, no holly stamp, a key without a sentiment. I used two shapes of Grungeboard: the oval nameplate and the holly. The music was downloaded...again from Shelly Hickox's blog...and printed on vellum. The red beneath the nameplate is a wide Christmas ribbon...totally off the wall. Will it be possible to finish the final four with what I own?

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #7

This tag took three complete attempts. I don't have a Santa stamp...not even a little one...so I tried a kitty with a Santa hat---bad choice. When I decided to use one of my many face stamps, I mistakenly used gold Distress embossing powder on the next-to-last step. Start over! I like the result, but the colors are definitely not as vibrant as the one Tim made. Maybe I got carried away with the flourishes in white acrylic paint. (By the way....the purchased mask material isn't necessary at all. I stamped on a transparency and used Scotch clear double-sided tape to use it as a mask.) Although it's barely visible, there is a line of red and green Stickles above the image, as well as a little Stickles accent at the lower edge.

It's midnight and the house is creaking in the 3-degree temperature!

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #6

I'm a day behind, and I'm not sure I can catch up! Too much going on in my life right now. This was actually a fun tag to make; it helped having the Stampers Anonymous antique pickup image and a tree stamp that fit the pickup! None of that fancy snow stuff that Tim used, but white liquid applique worked beautifully. Thanks to Shelly Hickox for the image of the French game piece; I just printed it on gold cardstock. Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #5

This is definitely my least-favorite of the tags because I didn't manage to coordinate very many colors. No green Distress EP, so regular had to do. I decided to use copper foil tape for the ornaments and the trim at the top, which was embossed in a Cuttlebug folder for texture and design. My Fragments aren't charms, so I had to figure out how to create the hangers for the ornaments. (click on tag for closer view)

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #4

Oh my...did I struggle with this tag! I decided that the biggest problem for me was dealing with the Stickles that I used on the little 'roof' (made of punched cardstock). Because I didn't have 1x1 pieces of glass for the Memory Capsule and frame, I went to the 1x3 size. The chain attachment was then too long; shortening it finally necessitated help from my husband. I used a Christmas slide image from "Winter Wonderland" at Ten Two Studios. The surface was sealed with Glossy Accents and a little copper glitter. More copper glitter adds color to the ultrafine clear microbeads in the capsule. Finally finished! Now I can start on Day 5. (click on tag for closer view)

It took me two hours to make a piece of plaid that looked decent! I ended up with several of what I call 'drunken plaid' pieces, though! The first tag is actually the second tag; once I completed it, I decided to try again. I don't have a Santa stamp, so I chose a Christmas candle for the second tag.

First of all, I don't do metal flowers! Not only am I challenged in such crafts, my hands just won't cooperate any more. So I have a beautiful metal star with an angel cut-out. My tag is definitely vintage, but maybe not Tim-vintage. Great fun!

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas #1

I doubt that I'll be able to do all 12 tags, but I'll make an effort! I love the color of the first tag, but I don't have the crackle paint. Instead, I used Crackle Glossy Accents. No Picket Fence Distress Stickles, either ---- and I don't think I'll get them any time soon. (Click on photo for closer view.)
