Adding Leaves to the Flower Challenge

This card is a little "out there, " I suppose, but it was fun to create for The Flower Challenge #41. I used a great two-step Rubbernecker image for the flowers (Color Burst on acetate provided the "ink" for the pink), and cool black "leaves" with a die from PoppyStamps.  The sentiment is from a Unity mini stamp set. 

Floral Background

This is a card that is nearly impossible to photograph...that's the result of gold embossing! This month's Flower Challenge is to emphasize the flower as the background.  I chose the Large Poppy from Technique Junkies, stamped and embossed in gold.  Then I watercolored the poppies, using an aqua brush.  "Imagine" is from my growing collection of word dies, cut from metallic gold cardstock, which was also used to frame the flower layer.   

A Sketch with Flowers

A sketch using flowers... that's the Flower Challenge for this month. My choice of paper was a blue "Watercolor" from Lawn Fawn. I dry-embossed the card front for some texture. The flowers are from an Altenew set and the "Friend" sentiment is from Technique Tuesday. 

Flower...Sparkle --- too late!

Because I got mixed up on the date, I missed the deadline for The Flower Challenge this month.  However, I'm posting anyway.  This card was stamped and embossed with black sparkle EP; the color was applied with Ken Oliver's Liquid Metals... Shimmer Spritz....and silver thread.   Sorry I missed the deadline!

Anything Goes on the Flower Challenge

"Anything Goes" is always a fun challenge, and that's the September choice for Flower Challenge.  I stamped an old Hero Arts image in black, colored with watercolor pens and then applied the Cracked Glass technique.  The die is one of an unnamed collection, and I doubled it with the card and accent color cardstock.

Gold Embossing for the Flower Challenge

Today, I finished one card and made two more. The "one-in-progress" was for The Flower Challenge. I've had almost a month to complete the challenge, but just couldn't get started. A week of visiting family (5 adults, a baby, and a dog) kept me away from crafting, but I made up for it today.  

The Flower Challenge this month requires embossing, either heat or dry.  I chose to emboss in gold and then watercolor the tall poppies from Hero Arts.  Two shades of watercolor pens provided the color. I finished the card by edging the flower piece in gold Krylon pen and adding the "smile" diecut, which I also colored in gold.  One addition that might not be obvious is gold spritz over the embossed piece.

CASEing for the Flower Challenge

This is a challenge I kind of "backed into."  I wanted to watercolor a floral image but knew it wasn't considered CAS because of the size of the image.  This particular Flower Challenge, however, provided the opportunity to CASE what turned out to be the same image!  

The stamp is from Flourishes, and when I worked with it, I knew exactly why I purchased it a few years ago.  It is perfect for coloring and especially perfect for watercoloring with markers and an aqua brush.  My card is a CASE of DT Member Maria's sweet peas card. 

Flower Challenge -- an older die or stamp

The newest card challenge for me is The Flower Challenge. For this particular challenge, I dug in the many drawers of floral stamps to find one of my most favorite:  the Impression Obsession "ruffled bloom."  I used Brushos in Brilliant Red, soaking the heat-embossed image on watercolor paper. The sentiment is from Stampabilities, stamped before the card was dry-embossed.  Challenge met.

A Flower for a Birthday

Stamping with flowers is an appealing challenge, but for me, choosing which flower stamp to use is the real challenge.  For this month's "The Flower Challenge" occasion theme post, I picked Penny Black's "dotted petals" and an old PSX birthday greeting.  The flower was stamped in black and heat-embosssed; I colored it with SU! markers and a blending pen.  Then I added sparkle to the flower and sentiment with some Stickles Lace. 

A New Challenge -- Flowers

A new challenge blog is now available:  The Flower Challenge. The first  is "Anything Goes." So here goes.

The Penny Black poppies were heat-embossed in white and colored with Distress markers (Barn Door and Peeled Paint) and a paintbrush. I no longer have the ID for the sentiment because I threw away the packaging except for the acetate sheet with the cling stamps.
