Catching Up with Card Challenges

Having been basically inactive in the craft room for weeks, I'm in the mood to catch up.

I love making backgrounds; it might be my favorite part of card-making.  This Paper Towel technique for CAS Mix Up is so much fun, and I can see it becoming a go-to.  I had to make my own "inky towel" by spraying Distress Sprays on the towel.  The image is an old favorite from Paperbag Studios, who closed more than a year ago.  For the "extra" I cut some tiny hearts out of the inked cardstock to apply. The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set.

The next card is for CAS(E) this Sketch.

I decided to make this card a masculine one; I rarely make them, but can use one now and then.
The card center was die cut from a piece of heavy printed cardstock with a postage stamp die  nd the "shaded" sentiment is from MemoryBox.

The third and final card for today's post is a "Fusion" challenge.

I am creatively challenged by photo suggestions for a card design.  My brain doesn't work that way!  That means that I choose the "default" image nearly all the time.  It was no different with this particular challenge.  I did have some fun with the DSP from a Kaiser craft paper pad.  The diecut sentiment is from an unnamed collection of words.

Fabulous trio of cards and so creative. The first card is so striking and the paper towel technique looks fabulous. Love the beautiful stamped image too. Great masculine card and a wonderful take on the challenge inspiration photo for card number three.
Thank you for playing along with your striking first card at The CAS Mix Up challenge x

Fantastic cards, all of them.
I love the background on the first card.
Fantastic guy card when you don't want to be too feminine.
I think the third card is my favorite because of the layout with the pink striped pail and that wonderful fun card in front of it.

Lovely cards. I also own that Paperbag Studio little girl stamp and I love what you did with her. She looks great on kraft cs also, with her skin pencil colored. Your pink and grey card is also an eyecatcher. I really like those two colors together.

All three are so different and fabulous, Evelyn! The soft paper towel ink transfer is a perfect background for the lovely girl's image. Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

Goodness, I wasn't expecting a trio! I was admiring your first card -- a sweet image with the perfect sentiment and soft background -- and then along came a second and third. All are very eye catching, and the perfect props for the photos. Your sprays worked out nicely for the paper towel technique. It's very soft and lovely. ps: Just returned from a trip and trying to catch up.
