Play Date Cafe Challenge with 'southwestern' colors

It's interesting how an idea in my mind often doesn't produce the results I expect.  That's what happened with this card for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge.  I knew I wanted to use one of my new collage images from Altered Pages, where there are many fascinating choices.  In an attempt to change the look of one terra cotta piece, I embossed it in a Cuttlebug folder.

Another look:   I felt something was missing on the first card, so I added a skinny black mat to the layers.  I think that's the answer.  The woman in the attitude of supplication is from "A Woman's View" collage sheet at Altered Pages.

You were on the mark, E! That thin black mat made all the difference in the design. Great job, and beautiful image. Denise B.

I think we all experience the same things when we set out to put colors together...they really look good in our heads, but then we get started and we wonder why it doesn't look the same : )

This is really great and the black mat is always a simple fix when things need a little 'pop'!

Thanks for playing with us over in The Cafe.

This is lovely! I agree with Julie, sometimes ideas don't come out quite as we planned, but they often turn out better! I love that you've added the black matting, it gives such great definition and makes the colours work really well together. Great use of texture too! Good to see you playing along with us at the Play Date Cafe this week!
