Although my crafting has been infrequent for the past weeks, I did finish this set of coasters for our oldest son: they feature maps of the places he has visited outside the US. I started with 4"x4" travertine tiles from Home Depot or Lowe's, and then Googled maps of the various locations, resizing them to fit the tile. The maps were printed in color on printer paper and applied with ModPodge; when that first application dried, I applied another layer of ModPodge. Finally, I applied clear, non-yellowing spray paint. (Each tile has 4 little cork circle "feet" to raise them off a surface.) Because the tiles are relatively heavy, and our son was traveling with only a carry-on, I'm sending the coaster from Oregon to Brooklyn in the smallest flat-rate Priority Mail box. Maybe it will even fit in the skimpy mailbox of his apartment building!
