I would NEVER have thought of gluing (British is "glueing," I believe) strips of patterned papers into a new piece to work with---until I learned it from Jennifer McGuire on the wrap-up day of "Pattern Play." And even more exciting was to imitate her idea of die-cutting the piece for a focal image.
The photo below shows the piece made of paper strips and the die cut of a Memory Box tree on my card.

Yes you are correct 'glueing' has an e. Gorgeous tree, I have used this technique before but you appear to have taken it up a notch, yhe colour palette is warm and inviting and it is a beautiful card.
