Textured Paper with TP

Handmade paper...sort of.  Blockheads Paper Arts' current blog challenge is an interesting one:  Textured Paper with Embossing Folders.  The unusual aspect is the use of toilet paper to make the embossed paper.  This was a real challenge.  Layering wet toilet paper in an embossing folder was a little tricky; waiting for it to dry required patience, too.  I tend to do things backwards, and this was no different.  I should have applied my color while the paper was still wet!   However, I used Glimmer Mists (Patina, Periwinkle, Bronze) and then re-dried the paper in my oven, which had been heated to 300 degrees and then turned off.   I applied Versamark ink to the design created by the embossing folder and then brushed on gold Perfect Pearls.  Another tricky step was adding gold metallic pen to the edges (7 layers of paper tend to separate).  To adhere the completed piece to a card front, I ran strips of mono adhesive in a "frame" that would fit inside the borders of the piece.   This was definitely a Challenge with a capital "C"!

Hello Evelyn
It may have been a Challenge but the result is one gorgeous card, the effect of the colours on the toilet
paper is wonderfully soft, I guess tissue would work too. I may have to give this technique a try it sounds very interesting.

WOW---If you had given no details, the technique would have left us wondering, but never possibly imaging that How in the world did you think to put to dry in oven?? you are not a chemistry major. I would have thought it would somehow burn. I love the details you gave and all the process. Challenging? Sure ..But you pulled it off with excellent, inspiring results--like a sun shining.

Yes, this technique does require some patience. I had trouble trying to layer wet TP onto the folder. So, what I did was lay the TP onto the folder dry and then spritz with water, add a few more sheets and spritz again. I thought this was much easier. Your project really turned out great, and I really love the color striations you achieved. Thanks for joining us at the Blockheads Tech Challenge!!
