Pattern Play -- Card #1

I've signed up for another online class from OnlineCardClasses.com called "Pattern Play."  I've often said that I have more patterned paper and cardstock than a person could possibly use in a lifetime, so  I thought it might be good to take a class specializing in cards made with patterned paper.   On Day 1, three cardmakers gave tips and ideas in their videos; the "homework" was to make a card using one of the techniques.

My card uses papers from Authentique's new "Carefree" 6x6 bundle.  Only the large gray-green piece is from another paper stack.  My problem was with the sentiment background--white or red?

These are wonderful, Evelyn, and I love the message.

Both cards are lovely! I do prefer the one with the white sentiment - it seems to make the card pop even more :)

Yep the one with the white center really pops.

Hello Evelyn
Well I am going to be the odd one out here...does that surprise you?
I prefer the Red/Black sentiment.
I find the White jarring and cold against your warm muted tones of the Bg; the White is too loud.
Your second sample is far quieter and easy on the eye, your values and tones sit well together, so for me these rich wine tones relate a mature and elegant card.
