An Altered Mini-Chest

Lisa's Bloggers Challenge theme for the week is "Alter It."  When I saw the beautiful altered items already posted, I was especially inspired by Darlene's "treasure box."   I don't care to take on a project that large, but I love Graphic 45 papers, and I just happened to have one sheet of Graphic 45's "Poppy Fields" from the Magic of Oz Collection.   Beautiful orange poppies on one side and a complementary dotted black side on the other.

The little papier mache chest is only 3 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide.   Because I wanted the top of the chest to contrast with the body, I chose the dotted paper and then cut out some of the poppies from the other side, shaped them a little and attached with thick foam dots.   I used PVA as the adhesive and finishing coat for the entire project.  (Hindsight and all----I should have cut paper for the top larger and mitered the corners to cover the underside of that rim.)

How pretty. I love the paper patterns. Altering things is not my thing so I usually skip these challenges. You did a wonderful job with your project.

Well Evelyn, I am going to say a little more than just Pretty!!!!!!
This little chest of drawers, is impressive and charming.
Using G45 papers is a master stroke as I feel they were designed especially for these types of creations. The Poppies look great, and I like how you have fussy-cut and added them to the top. By keeping it free of embellishments you have given it a classic look. You should be very pleased with yourself.
